Terralsole, Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, 2012 is a classic, intense Brunello, whose label is decorated with the work of the Cuban artist Leonor Anthony, who now lives in Miami. Renowned Art Basel Miami exhibitor Leonor Anthony created this piece using an iPad. The winery called the wine “e Tutto Relativo” – everything is relative …
Sangiovese Grosso (or Brunello) grapes are grown in Montalcino on a plot of 12 hectares, broken at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. Harvested by hand and hand-selected. The berries are placed in a grinder, where they are carefully crushed, and the must falls into a steel vat thanks to a gravitational system. Vinification includes maceration on the skins and fermentation with frequent pumping of the must at the very beginning. The fermentation temperature does not exceed 33 C and gradually decreases until the must and pulp are completely separated. Exposure takes place in two stages: first 18 months in 600-liter French oak barrels of Tronse and Allier, and then 15 months in 225-liter barriques. After bottling, the wine matures for another 12 months in the cellar of the winery. The 2012 vintage will peak in 2019-2027.
