Wine Shannon Vineyards, “Triangle Block” Semillon, 2019

“Oscar Browne” Chardonnay is a bold, complex and multi-layered wine made from three Chardonnay clones (CY 95, CY 76 and CY 548), each of which was vinified and aged separately to highlight its individuality before being combined into the final blend. The wine is harvested twice, early and late, to maximize the range of flavors the vineyards have to offer. The Chardonnay clusters are cooled to 3C overnight and then sent to a conveyor belt where they are hand-sorted and then pressed as whole clusters. The resulting juice is settled and poured into a barrel for natural fermentation with natural local yeast. Then malolactic fermentation is carried out without stirring the sediment. The aging of wine in oak barriques from French Bordeaux cooperages lasts about 11 months.
