Wine Sauska, Furmint, 2021

Furmint, 2011 – excellent dry white wine: clean, airy, with mineral tones and bright notes of fruit. The wine is made from the same kind Furmint – one of the leading autochthonous grape varieties in the current. Furmint is grown in the vineyards located on the slopes of Birsalmas, wine from it perfectly expresses the unique terroir.

2011 season was very unusual. Warm spring triggered early flowering. Summer was too long and extremely hot, and therefore it was necessary to conceal the berries from direct sunlight. The crop was ready for harvest is almost at the very beginning of September, it was able to collect the full sweetness and flavor. Berries vinification when subjected to the cooling process of the stainless steel containers for 6 hours at a temperature of 8-10 C. Then fermented in French oak barrels, which lasts 14-21 days at a temperature of 18 C. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is filtered and aged on the lees for 6 months in new and partially used French oak barrels with a constant batonnazhem.

Christian Sauska – Hungarian businessman who emigrated to the United States and made it a successful career in the field of high-tech lighting. In 1999, driven by his passion for wine, he conceives a bold and ambitious project in his homeland, Hungary. So there is a company Sauska. The company’s goal is to produce high quality unique wines using the immense potential of the Hungarian lands. As a consultant for the production of wines of the highest class was invited to the famous Italian enologist Stefano Kiochioli.

In addition to traditional varieties Hungary – Furmint and Harshevelyu – the company uses international grape varieties that reveal the character of the local terroir. Wine created from blends are called prime numbers that are divisible only by one and themselves – this move allows us to emphasize the uniqueness of each wine. Red wines are aged in French oak barrels, for white wines combine the use of barrels and stainless steel tanks.
