  • Since its birth wine “Riserva Ducale”, previously produced under the name Chianti Stravekko, has become synonymous with elegance wines of Chianti and it played a significant role in that Tuscan wines today are not just known throughout the world, but also occupy a privileged position.
    “Riserva Ducale” – the most famous wine company Ruffino, which is made from the beginning of the 19th century. The modern name of Riserva Ducale (Ducal) it received after it was certified by the Duke of Aosta. According to legend, the Duke of Aosta was a great admirer of wine Ruffino, and in the late 19th century, the company’s products are regularly delivered to his desk. In recognition of the excellent quality of the wine, the Duke ordered to produce a certificate.

    “Riserva Ducale” Oro – the best of the three wines Ducale manufactured by Ruffino. It was first released in 1947 and is an evolutionary version of “Riserva Ducale”. This wine – ideally from his example can be traced all the way to the development of production of fine wines of Italy for the past 50 years. For “Riserva Ducale” Oro characterized by a special, easily recognizable style, which transmits its taste strong character and ancient tradition of the great hard-working people living in the region of Chianti Classico.

    Blend 2009 at 80% of Sangiovese grapes and 20% of a mixture of varieties of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Berries are harvested in vineyards belonging to the estates and Gretole Santedame, which are located in the most prestigious wine regions of Chianti Classico. The vines are planted on the southern, south-western and south-eastern exposure at an altitude of 350-470 meters above sea level on clay and sandy soils. During the harvest, which begins in mid-September and lasts about a month, made a careful selection of grapes. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in a temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 28 C and takes about 10 days. Maceration on the skins continued for another 15 days. After completion of malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 36 months. The first 6 months of the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks, then it matures 24 months in oak barrels of 350 and 750 liters, and six months before bottling “resting” in neutral vessels. Before entering the market bottled wine for at least 6 months spent in the cellars of the economy.

    Company “Ruffino” began its history in 1877, when the hereditary Tuscan winemakers and great patriots of their native land, cousins Hilario and Leopoldo Ruffino winery founded in the nearby town of Pontassieve to Florence. This company has been producing the best wines of Tuscany. Products “Ruffino” has long since become the hallmark of the famous worldwide Tuscan style. In 1895 at an exhibition in Bordeaux wine Chianti Ruffino was recognized as the best. In 1984, when it was formed appellation Chianti DOCG, the same wine received the first state mark of quality.

    In 1913 the company was acquired by the family Folonari. The new owners have managed to make “Ruffino” symbol of wine and sample quality Tuscan wines. Each estate is managed by experienced agronomist and enologist. The main activity of the “Ruffino” is subject to the maintenance of a high level of quality of all produced wines, it also made a significant contribution to the creation of such a beautiful image of Italian wine-making on the modern international wines. To date, the company’s wines are exported to 85 countries. In 2011, “Ruffino” became the first Italian company to join the largest international consortium Constellation Brands.
