Wine Royal Tokaji, Dry Tokaji, 2021

Dry Furmint Vineyard Selection is a white dry wine created from the Furmint variety grown in the famous Hungarian Tokaj region. Vinified in the traditional way and aged in oak barrels. The wine has a generous fruit flavor and delicate aroma. Especially well, the wine will be revealed if served with pasta, seafood and snacks.

The company Royal Tokaji , led by Ben Hawkins, has managed to return the historical Tokay wine Aszu to European wine connoisseurs. The company strives to make exactly the historically correct royal Tokay wines, which is reflected in the company’s name – “Royal Tokay”. The revival of the famous traditional Tokay wines Aszu began in 1989. Then this problem was interested in well-known European winemaking experts – Hugh Johnson and Peter Winding Diers. They met with Tokay winemakers who have kept the recipe for genuine Tokay wine. These winemakers have always made several barrels of real wine, although for the sake of survival they had to sell almost all their grapes to the local winery.

The joint venture Royal Tokaji, where the Hungarian, English and Danish capital participates, was founded in Tokai in 1990. Famous wine critic Hugh Johnson and renowned oenologist Peter Vinding Dears were among the organizers of this company. New wines Royal Tokaji immediately announced themselves to the whole world. All prestigious contests and international exhibitions honored them with their awards and top marks, and top-class restaurants with Michelin stars included new Tokay wines in their wine lists. Karoli Ats – the main winemaker of the company – was elected in the Tokay region as the “Winemaker of the Year 2006”.

Now Royal Tokay owns 106 hectares of vineyards in the very center of the Tokay region, in Tarkale and Made. These are four vineyards of the first class and one of the second class. Vines grow in a continental climate on volcanic soils. Here are planted vines aged 15-20 years old varieties Furmint, Kharshlevel and Muscat Lunel, allowed for the production of Tokay wines. The names of the wines produced correspond to the names of the vineyards: “Betsek”, “Birsalmas”, “Nyulaszo”, “Mezes Maly” and “Tamas”. In addition to wines from individual vineyards, the blend “Blue Label” and the rare Tokay wines “Essencia” and “Aszu Essencia” are produced.
