Robertson Winery, Chardonnay – fresh, harmonious wine made from the same grape variety, grown on gravelly soils containing clay and limestone. Harvesting is carried out only to achieve optimum fruit maturity. Fermentation takes place in tanks of stainless steel (80%) and in wood (20%) at a controlled temperature of 12 C and lasts for 19 days. Within 80 days the wine is aged on the lees for complexity taste and aroma. Then 20% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 6 months.
Robertson Valley and the eponymous town, founded in 1852, located in the province of Western Cape in South Africa. They are named after the Scottish Minister Dr. William Robertson, who arrived in South Africa in 1822, made great efforts to develop the region and improve the lives of local people.
Robertson Winery Company appeared in 1941 through the merger of 26 scattered farms engaged in viticulture in the valley Robertson.
