Wine Poggio al Tesoro, “Sondraia”, Bolgheri Superiore DOC, 2018

“Sondraia” – bright fruit wine, which is a testament to how Bordeaux grape varieties in harmony with the terroir of Bolgheri and give birth to the original wine with a strong personality who can be called “the style of Bolgheri”.

Blend wine “Sondrayya” consists of three grape varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon is grown mainly in the area “Via Bolgherese” at an altitude of 56 meters above sea level. Its deep soils consist of coarse sand and red clay layer up to 1.2 meters deep, have a rich texture, well drained. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon a small proportion coming from the vineyard “Le Sondraie”, located at an altitude of 26 meters above sea level. The soils of this vineyard, consisting of clay and loose sand, characterized by a high presence of magnesium and iron. Harvested by hand in small boxes of 15 kg. Conduct thorough sorting, destemming and pressing. The maceration and fermentation take place under strictly controlled temperatures, in stainless steel containers. Malolactic fermentation in oak barrels ends in November. After that, the wine is aged for 18 months in 225 liter French oak barrels Allier, of which 50% – a new, and 9 months in bottles. The potential for wine storage “Sondrayya” reaches 16 years.

Poggio al Tesoro – a joint project of Allegrini – a leading Italian producer of wine from the Valpolicella region, and Leonardo Lo Cascio – president Vaynbou leading importer of Italian wines in America. Together they have chosen Bolgheri, beautiful wine region in Tuscany – Poggio al Tesoro, which covers about 173 acres are divided into three vineyard – Via Bolgereze, Le Le and Grottin Sondraye. A sufficient amount of sunlight, proximity to the sea and the unique terroir of Bolgheri reflected in the wines of Poggio al Tesoro – mature, full-bodied and wealth combined with complexity and elegance.

Soil and climatic conditions to some extent reminiscent of Bordeaux: the hot Tuscan sun “softened” the cool sea breeze and the valley surrounding hills protect the vines from the north winds. Local beauty of this region have been immortalized in the works of the great Italian poet and Nobel Prize winner Giosu Carducci.

The farm planted the best clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for the production of first-class international wines. Rounding out the series of varieties Vermentino and Shiraz, which convey the uniqueness of the local region. It used all the classic wine growing techniques to achieve the best quality: the grapes are harvested and sorted by hand – first in the vineyard and then in the winery. Red varieties are fermented separately and then mixed to achieve the best balance.
