“Montesodi” Riserva – sample true terroir Chianti. Vinification takes place according to the ancient traditions of Tuscany and most fully demonstrates the nature of the Marchesi de Frescobaldi economy. Sangiovese for this wine are grown in the vineyard “Montesodi”, located in one of the family farms – Castello di Nipotstsano. Vineyard is located in the south-west exposure at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level and covers 20 hectares of land. The vines grow on dry and stony clay-limestone soils that are well drained and contain a lot of organic matter. Crop is harvested by hand in early October. In the manufacture of “Montesodi” Riserva wort fermentation lasts about 10 days in steel stainless steel tanks at a temperature of about 35 C, then held for 30 days maceration and malolactic fermentation. The wine is carried out for 18 months in barriques made from French and Austrian oak, then “Montesodi” Riserva is aged another 6 months in bottles.

In the second half of the XX century Frescobaldi were the main actors in the development of Tuscan wine, one of the first planted grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot and Pinot using new techniques in the production of wine. At this time, there was a significant increase in business Frescobaldi family. In 1989 they were acquired by the biggest economy in the region, Brunello, and in 1995 signed an agreement with a California winery joint venture in Tuscany for the production and distribution of Tuscan wines of the highest quality in the world market. Today Frescobaldi own nine names located in the best areas of Tuscany. There are elite wines, which are exported to more than 60 countries.
