Wine La Gerla, “Birba”, Toscana IGT, 2020

Wine “Birba” was born in 1988 thanks to the experiment Sergio Rossi, who intended to try to sustain the classic Brunello in barriques. The result was enchanting, pleasant and, at the same time, a dense wine, whose important advantage is affordable price and excellent quality. The basis was taken the grape Sangiovese Grosso with 25-year-old vines with low yields. Fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 30 C and was replaced by delayed for a year in oak barrels from Allier and Vosges average degree of roasting, a third of which – new. After bottling the wine matures in bottles for 14 months in the old cellar of the XIV century, which is supported by the necessary level of humidity and temperature. Storage Capacity “Beerbohm” is about 10 years, the wine requires a preliminary decanting before serving.
