Freixenet company was founded in 1889 after Pedro Ferrer Bosch, owner of the vineyard “La Freixeneda” married Dolores Sala Vive, heiress of the wine trade house with a 200-year history of “Sala”. Freshenet is one of the largest and oldest manufacturers of sparkling wine from Spain, which exports its products to more than 120 countries worldwide. The winery is located in the Peneds region, in the heart of Catalonia, 40 km south-west of Barcelona. Climate and chalky soil of this region is ideal for growing grapes.
