Wine “Castillo Santa Barbara” Reserva, Carinena DOP

“Castillo Santa Barbara” Reserva – an elegant and intense wine created from grapes of Tempranillo grown in the territory of Valdepeas. Before bottling the drink passes at least a twelve-month aging in oak barrels. After bottling, he matures in bottles for another year. The resulting wine conquers expressiveness and at the same time softness of taste. Castillo Santa Barbara Reserve will be a great addition to steak, roast, ham and salads.

Bodegas Fernando Castro was founded in 1850, when Marcos Castro Torres opened a small business in the field of viticulture. His son Juan Manuel, with the support of his eight children, was able to give a good commercial impetus to the company. So Castro wines began to be sold in the markets of Andalusia and Madrid. Then it presented some difficulty – for 15-20 days the wine was transported in carts pulled by mules. But the Castro family was able to lead the company to prosperity, despite all the vicissitudes of fate that they had to endure during the Spanish Civil War.

Today, Fernando Castro is the most famous family winery in southern Spain. Castro wines are supplied to 46 European countries, as well as to the USA, Canada and Japan. In Bodegas, Fernando Castro was able to combine traditional methods with the latest technology, which guarantees the excellent quality of the wines produced. Currently, the company owns 240 hectares of vineyards where varieties such as Tempranillo, Airen, Syrah, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown.
