Wine Cantina di Negrar, Corvina, Verona IGT, 2019

The Cantina di Negrar brand is the soul of Cantina Valpolicella Negrar. This line pays tribute to the philosophy of cooperative production and recalls the historical artifact remaining on the territory of Negrar: the lion of St. Mark, placed on a column in the center of Negrar, which is evidence of the rule of the Venetian Republic in the 16th century.

Cantina di Negrar, Corvina – an exquisite red wine with a perfectly balanced taste and rich aroma. The wine is made from Corvina grapes grown in the Verona region at an altitude of 100-200 meters above sea level. The age of the vines is 20-25 years. The spring of 2018 was cool and rainy, so part of the crop was lost. The grapes harvested in the second decade of September were first dried, then crushed and gently pressed. After fermentation, the wine was aged in steel tanks. Cantina di Negrar, Corvina is recommended to serve at 16-18 C with fried or stewed red meat.

The winery Cantina Valpolicella Negrar was organized in 1933 from several small uncompetitive producers. Today, Cantina Negrar is an association of 180 winegrowers, one of Italy’s largest wine cooperatives. They advise and coordinate the activities of the owners of approximately 200 vineyards with a total area of 500 hectares. Old recipes in combination with modern innovations that are used with great care and thoroughness are a guarantee of high quality. All vineyards are located on the hillsides in the Valpolicella Classico region northwest of Verona. Today’s annual production is more than 8 million bottles of wine from more than 60,000 quintals (13 million pounds) of grapes.
