Once upon a time, long ago, the valley Franchhoek was a wild place – here were carried out wolves and even now can be found in the forests of ancient traps. Today, the mountain is still alive indigenous animals, including the majestic leopard. However, no evidence that there are wolves found. Therefore Boekenhoutskloof winemakers have created a series of wines “Volftrap” to remind about the mysteries and legends of bygone days.
“Wolftrap” Red is a well balanced, unpretentious wine manufactured for easy drinking and enjoying every day. Blend wine includes three grape varieties – Syrah, Mourvedre and Viognier that come from Malmesbury, in Svartlende. Small berries with dry wine vineyards provide intense spicy flavor and dense taste with soft tannins balanced. To bottling the wine is aged in French oak barrels. The wine should be drunk within three years after the release.
Boekenhoutskloof winery was founded in 1776 in the far corner of the picturesque valley Franchhoek. The name of the winery is translated as “gorge Boekenhout”, and Boekenhout – this beech tree that grows only in the Cape. Its durable, beautiful wood furniture manufacturers is very much appreciated.
The recent history of the winery began in 1993, when the farm changed hands and has been restored. Also, the owners have created a new program of planting vineyards with varieties such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Semillon and Viognier. At the same time, remained in the possession of Bukenhtskluf old vineyards planted at the beginning of the XX century. The farm is very gentle on the environment and does a lot to preserve the flora and fauna of the region. The main driving force of winemaking and dynamic economy is Bukenhtskluf Mark Kent. Mark is not afraid to experiment with non-traditional methods of vinification, but his main commitment is to quality at every level of production and in every detail.
